Through meeting him I came to Holland and continued my studies at the University of Utrecht. I was very interested in the visual perception of children and their experience of play. After finishing my studies I worked on a head-start program for disadvantaged children for which I developed educational materials and designed programs for the development of analytical and perceptual capabilities of young children. 

The early years of my life as an artist were deeply influenced by my studies at the Hochschule from 1956 to 1958. This influence is clearly reflected in my first paintings in the 1970s. In de following years I searched for increasingly open concepts, combining a variety of techniques. This resulted in a series of works on paper using stamps of different materials and sizes. The title of the series is Systeem en Toeval (System and Chance) because one can only influence the end result in some respects, while in others you are dependent on chance.
